SUTD will admit its first intake of students in April 2012. The university’s programmes are based on four focus areas leading to separate degree programmes, with design as an academic discipline cutting across all programmes.
Architecture and Sustainable Design – leading to positions in architectural design, construction, and real-estate management and development.

Students will not be required to choose their focus area until after 1.5 years of a common curriculum.
